Training Philosophy

At the heart of my training philosophy is the belief that true dressage is about developing a partnership built on trust, harmony, and understanding. Every horse and rider is an individual, and my goal is to bring out their unique potential through patient, systematic training that honors the classical principles of dressage.

I emphasize correct basics, thoughtful progression, and compassionate horsemanship. For the horse, this means creating a program that builds strength, suppleness, and confidence without rushing the process. For the rider, it means cultivating feel, timing, and clarity of communication, so the aids become both subtle and effective.

My horses thrive in a well-rounded program that goes beyond the arena. They hack, explore varied terrain, and enjoy plenty of time outside of the dressage ring to develop confidence, relaxation, and happiness in their work. This balance keeps them fresh in mind and body while deepening their partnership with the rider.

Dressage at its highest level is not only about precision in the arena—it’s about creating a willing, confident athlete who enjoys the work, and a rider who feels empowered, educated, and inspired. Whether starting a young horse or refining the movements of a Grand Prix competitor, my aim is always to foster a partnership that is both successful and sustainable.
